Dirty Boxing Championship Rules Explained
Dirty Boxing Championship (DBX) combines boxing-style striking with elbows and limited ground-and-pound. Its official rules prohibit kicks and takedowns, and restrict clinching. The promotion’s published materials show a change in glove size: its revised rules page currently lists four-ounce gloves, while its detailed regulations document, issued September 10, 2024, specifies five-ounce gloves. The commission overseeing an event may also modify the rules.
Legal strikes and ground action
The detailed rules allow closed-fist and open-hand strikes to the front and sides of the head and to the torso above the beltline. Elbows, backfists, ridge-hands, forearm strikes, and palm strikes are also listed as legal techniques. Kicks are prohibited.
If a fighter is knocked down by legal hand strikes, the standing fighter may continue with hand strikes while upright and with both feet on the ground. If both fighters are down, the referee stops the action and restarts them from that position. Takedowns, sweeps, throws, and inactive holding or clinching are prohibited; a short clinch is allowed only to execute a legal technique immediately.
Rounds and scoring
The detailed regulations specify three three-minute rounds for non-title bouts and five three-minute rounds for main events and championship fights. Three judges use a 10-point-must system, evaluating effective strikes, control of the fighting area, and effective aggression. Under the detailed rules, a draw or split decision leads to an extra round; a draw after that round remains a draw.
