Rizin 35: A Night of Champions and Unforgettable Fights

Rizin 35, a major event in the world of mixed martial arts, took place on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza in Chofu, Tokyo, Japan. The event was a spectacle of ten thrilling fights, with three championship belts on the line, making it a night to remember for MMA fans worldwide.

The main event of the evening was the RIZIN Lightweight Championship, where Roberto “Satoshi” Souza defended his title against Johnny Case. Souza, who had previously claimed the lightweight belt with a first-round submission of Tofiq Musayev at Rizin 28, was looking to make the second defense of his title. The Brazilian champ did not disappoint, securing a victory over Case with an armbar submission in the first round.

The co-main event featured the RIZIN Featherweight Championship, where reigning champion Juntaro Ushiku defended his title against Yutaka Saito. Ushiku emerged victorious, winning by unanimous decision after three intense rounds.

The RIZIN Super Atomweight Championship was also up for grabs, with Ayaka Hamasaki defending her title against Seika Izawa. This fight was a rematch of their December 2021 bout, which had seen Izawa pull off an upset in a non-title affair. However, this time around, Izawa emerged victorious, winning the Super Atomweight Championship by unanimous decision.

In addition to the title fights, the event also featured a host of other exciting bouts. Notably, Kanna Asakura appeared for a record 15th time as a Rizin fighter, earning a unanimous decision victory over Satomi Takano. This win brought her one step closer to the record held by Prochazka and Kubota, who each have 11 wins in the league.

The event also saw the return of international fighters to RIZIN, with Vugar Karamov facing Pancrase Interim Champion Taichi Nakajima, unbeaten Rihards Bigis taking on Shoma Shibisai, and Spike Carlyle squaring off against former DEEP Champion Koji Takeda.

Rizin 35 was a testament to the resilience and determination of these fighters, who put on a show of skill and strength that left the audience in awe. The event was a reminder of why MMA continues to captivate audiences worldwide, with its blend of athleticism, strategy, and sheer willpower. As the dust settles on Rizin 35, fans are already looking forward to the next event, eager to see what new heights these fighters will reach.
