Henryk Srednicki: Poland’s Legendary Flyweight Boxing Champion

Henryk Srednicki was a Polish amateur boxer who etched his name in the annals of boxing history with his remarkable achievements in the flyweight division. Born on January 17, 1955, in Siemianowice Śląskie, Poland, Srednicki’s journey to the pinnacle of amateur boxing was nothing short of extraordinary.

Standing at a mere 1.60 meters (5 feet 3 inches) tall and weighing just 51 kilograms (112 pounds), Srednicki’s diminutive stature belied his ferocious fighting spirit. However, Srednicki’s crowning achievement came at the second World Amateur Boxing Championships in 1978 in Belgrade. In a remarkable display of skill and tenacity, he defeated Cuba’s Héctor Ramírez in the final to claim the coveted world title, becoming the first and only Polish boxer to achieve this feat.
