Alex Guido: The Defensive Midfield Maestro Turned Boxer

Alex Guido, a former defensive midfielder in professional soccer, has embarked on an unexpected journey into the world of boxing. Born in San Diego, California, to Mexican parents, Guido’s athletic prowess was evident from an early age. He excelled in soccer, representing the United States at various youth levels, including the U-17 World Cup in 2011.

After a successful stint with Club Tijuana in Mexico, Guido joined Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC in 2019. However, his time with the club was short-lived, and he found himself on loan with the San Diego Loyal in 2020. It was during this period that Guido’s interest in boxing began to take shape.

Inspired by the discipline and physical demands of the sport, Guido decided to pursue boxing full-time after his release from Los Angeles FC. He joined the San Diego Loyal permanently in 2021, but his focus had shifted to the ring. Guido’s transition from the soccer field to the boxing ring was not an easy one, but his determination and work ethic have been instrumental in his success.

Under the guidance of experienced trainers, Guido has honed his skills and developed a unique style that combines his soccer background with the intricacies of boxing. His footwork and agility, honed from years of playing soccer, have become his greatest assets in the ring, allowing him to evade punches and create openings for his own attacks.

Despite being a relative newcomer to the sport, Guido has already made a name for himself in the boxing community. His performances have earned him recognition, and he has been named to the USL Championship All League Second Team in 2022, a testament to his dedication and talent.

As Guido continues to climb the ranks of the boxing world, his journey serves as an inspiration to athletes everywhere. His story reminds us that it’s never too late to pursue a new passion and that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
